I give this 4 book set 20 Stars, 5 stars for each book!I learned more with this set than I did in any history class! My favorite was part 1 :I loved learning about The Olmecs, The Maya, The Aztecs,The Andean Civilizations and the Incas,South America, Colonization,South America,The Natives in North America andThe European Colonization of North America.I loved learning the history of these people and learning that they were much more advanced and productive than I ever knew.Part 2:The Americas:In this book we learn about the young Christopher Columbus and several other explorers at the dawn of The Age of Discovery and Era of Exploration and witness the birth of curiosity and greed's hold on early explorers to new world's as the realized that there were more lands out there to possess and concour than their own. I loved reading about the colonies! Fascinating!Part 3:Christopher Columbus:This is a well written guide to Christopher Columbus and all his voyages. Well worth the read.Part 4:The Transatlantic Slave Trade:I have read and reviewed this excellent book previously and I will add that review here later today.I highly recommend this excellent four book bundle to everyone! The New World is a 458-page publication assembled from four Captivating History releases: The Americas, Age of Discovery, Christopher Columbus, and Transatlantic Slave Trade. This read, which would take a good summer day, would take a good summer day introduces the reader to the documentation of how the Western Hemisphere was opened to European civilizations that divided up this grand new world to exploit its resources and expand their influence. The existing indigenous people were displaced, and many fell because of the inflow of newcomers. In other cases, people were ripped from their faraway homes and brought to the new world and held in slavery as inexpensive labor. These five hundred years of history have set energies in motion that still affect us today. It has been said that the Americas is a result of a grand experiment and we have not seen its conclusion. The publication spends some time on the ancient civilizations of Mexico and South America and then focuses on the evolution of South and North America. Where possible, Matt Clayton tells the story chronologically in their respective sections.Footnotes and a bibliography are provided for additional reading.
